Dear all, I hope that wherever you are on this Earth you are either enjoying the beautiful colors that Mother Earth is wearing and sharing freely with us for the delight of the senses, or that you are enjoying a lovely spring with everything blossoming again.
We live on this planet Earth and recently through a sitting circle I saw even more how love is all there is and how we need to play our parts on this Earth that keeps us fed and protected regardless of what is going on around. The only rule/truth in life seems to be that everything is impermanent and in a constant state of change and The Earth herself is going through massive changes reflecting a lot of what is going on in the collective. Looking at the trees right now is just one example.
Recently I spoke with a student after a class and our exchange made me feel a little bit -I would say- edgy. Reason why I share my thoughts today…He kept on saying how he should just enjoy life (nothing wrong on that level) because at the end he wouldn’t be here in 50 years and they (the next 2 generations at least) would find a way to cope with what basically we are creating right now! The discussion started with global warning…Some people are still in that greedy mentality. We know that whatever small action we have, thoughts… will have an impact on ourselves and the future in general. Please don’t get me wrong I am not a saint
but I do my best to recycle and sometimes when I have no other options mix my bottle with the rest, I still take planes to visit my family, to take courses or simply to go on holidays and I could reduce much more. But I hope that by living more simply than many I make my contribution. I still have negative thoughts and sometimes ruminate for ages but I am aware of them and do my best to address that. I am trying to put into action what I practise on the mat by being more aware and doing my bits. The Earth is our mother and it is time we respect her. It is time we realize how we all need each other and that we are just here for a short time but that there will be others after us. Many indigenous people still live this way, caring for things knowing there are many generations after them.
I just feel sad that we are living in such selfish times…everyone trying to get their needs met without looking beyond their navels…maybe it is time we wake up and rise together…Recently in a beautiful book (“Neither wolf nor dog”) that passage stayed with me: how in the west when we meet someone we think about what we can get when in other cultures it is about about what they can give…
Follow some inspiring words if you have stayed that far with my reflections!!
Stay open, stay gentle, stay in love.
